1996—2018. C/O NUMB®
Roc-A-Fella Records was founded in 1996 by Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter, Damon "Dame" Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke. After being turned down by several major players, the three men backed themselves and funded the cash to start their own label, as a platform to release Jay-Z’s debut album “Reasonable Doubt”. The album was a masterpiece and critical success — ranked on many publications lists of the greatest Hip-Hop / Rap albums. Following this, Jay-Z went on to release several number 1 albums over a span of 20+ years, and the Roc-A-Fella roster expanded to include many other successful artists including, Kanye West, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Cam’ron and The Diplomats. Roc-A-Fella Records grew to become one of the most powerful record labels in Hip-Hop.
This collection is a continuation of their narrative... designer John Bouquet has represented the perpetual label by pulling references + inspirations from the past while infusing his own aesthetic to build timeless ready to wear garments that honour Reasonable Doubt, and the dynasty that is — Roc-A-Fella Records.
